Discovery Camp

Ages 5 to 6 (1 week sessions/$195; half-day option $100 )
Discovery Camp has been planned with the unique needs of our youngest campers in mind. We understand that 5 and 6 year olds learn best through play and may require more focused attention to complete daily tasks such as applying sunscreen, drinking enough water, and wearing a hat. Discovery campers are paired with a counselor and program staff to ensure that these needs are met.

Discovery campers spend the majority of their day near our Main Lodge building – cutting down on travel time between activities and allowing for some indoor time each day. Discovery campers will participate in a number of activities each week included nature based programs, high energy and sports games, arts and crafts, archery, orienteering, and visit to the outdoor maze, and swimming. Each Friday is set aside for theme day when camp is transformed and special activities take place. In the past campers have enjoyed dressing up for theme days such as Disney Day, Carnival Day, and Cowboy Day.

This year YMCA Cedar Glen is offering a half-day program for Discovery campers. The half-day program is a great option for first time campers to transition into day camp at YMCA Cedar Glen. Half-day campers will join Discovery Camp for the morning from 9 am – 12 pm, and are welcome to take the bus to camp each morning. However, half-day campers will need to be picked up at 12 pm as there is no half day busing option available.

Campers will participate in: swimming, climbing wall, archery, maze, sports, field games, outdoor discovery, and creative arts activities.

Explorer Camp

Ages 7 to 9 (1-week sessions/$195)
Explorer camp has been planned with energetic 7 – 9 year olds in mind – the daily schedule is action packed to keep campers interested and engaged all the time. Along with the counselor and 9 other campers similar in age, Explorers will get to experience a wide range of activities each session including outdoor discovery, arts and crafts, recreational sports and games, archery, hikes, the outdoor maze, weekly theme days, and a daily free swim.

In addition to these YMCA Cedar Glen day camp classics, Explorer campers will get to try out our low ropes course and outdoor climbing wall for the first time. Low ropes encourages campers to work together to conquer the challenges presented to them. Groups will work together to solve problems, walk on wires, climb through tires, and balance on beams. The Climbing Wall puts campers to the test as they challenges themselves to climb to the sky, relying on their fellow campers for motivation, support, and encouragement.

Adventure Camp

Ages 10 to 12 (1-week sessions/$195)
Never hear “I’m bored” again! Adventure Camp is packed with new challenges to keep our oldest campers interested and excited by all the YMCA Cedar Glen has to offer. In addition to swimming each day and participation in “classic” Cedar Glen Day Camp activities such as outdoor discovery, arts and crafts, recreational sports, archery, and the outdoor maze, Adventure campers will get to try out our high ropes course and mountain biking program.

These programs offer all the excitement and challenge that Adventure campers are looking for! Campers love strapping on a helmet, mounting up, and heading out to explore our 263 acre property on the mountain bike trails. While participating in high ropes, campers will learn to harness up and follow basic high ropes safety procedures, and then conquer one of the three high ropes courses.

Voyageur Camp

Ages 13 to 14 (1-week sessions/$250)
Voyageur Camp is the ultimate adventure for our oldest campers. Campers will participate in a planned day on Monday, but then work together with their counselor to choose their adventures for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Voyageurs have access to all of our program areas including: low ropes, high ropes, climbing wall, mountain biking, arts and crafts, outdoor discovery, sports, the outdoor maze, and swimming. On Fridays Voyageurs will take part in an offsite trip to a local attraction. Some day trip locations may include Canada's Wonderland, Wild Water Kingdom, the Toronto Zoo, and the Ontario Science Centre.

Voyageurs are invited to join us every second Thursday throughout the summer for the overnight program. During overnights campers work together to set up camp, prepare dinner over the fire, and participate in evening programs such as campfire, night hike, swimming, and marshmallow roasting. Campers are provided with dinner on Thursday, as well as a hot breakfast and bagged lunch on Friday.
