Bonnet Plume River (*whitewater experience is mandatory)

Dates: July 1-August 17, 2012

From its source in the Yukon's McKenzie Mountain Range, the Bonnet Plume River is a premier wilderness whitewater river. This designated Canadian Heritage River, flows through subalpine tundra and is home to diverse populations of wildlife, vegetation and scenery.

Participants will start their canoe trip at Bonnet Plume Lake and navigate their way through rapids ranging from Class I-III. Nights will be spent at excellent camping locations which offer opportunities for scenic day-hikes. At the confluence of the Bonnet Plume and Peel River, the trip will spend their last week paddling north into the North West Territories on the Peel River ending at Fort McPherson.

Winisk River (*whitewater experience is mandatory)
Age: 16
Dates: July 15-August 31, 2012

Flowing through untouched boreal forest on its way to Hudson Bay, the Winisk River is a stunning and challenging whitewater river located in Northern Ontario. Starting at Pickle Lake, Ontario, participants will paddle the Pipestone River to gain access to the headwaters of the mighty Winisk.

Participants can expect to paddle technical rapids, spot a variety of wildlife, as well as climb the occasional esker. As the black spruce and jack pines start to disappear, the group will enter Polar Bear Provincial Park and the Hudson Bay lowlands, home to the only known Ontario polar bear population! As the Winisk flows into Hudson Bay, the group will have paddled over 700 kilometres and finish their journey at Peawanuk.
