CIT (Counsellor-in-Training)
Age: 16
The CIT program is designed for our most mature campers with the aim of preparing them to be dynamic staff. Guided by their CIT Trainers, participants develop skills through a series of workshops geared to teach the art of counselling, skill instruction, program planning and delivery and trip leadership. CITs will complete a 5 day canoe trip to practice their trip leadership skills. Cabin placements throughout the session provide opportunity for practical learning with regular feedback from our counselling team.
This program provides leaders with the foundation to becoming strong individuals and potential staff members in our community. CIT’s have a major responsibility at Pine Crest to show strong role modeling, take interest in their own development and give back to the camp community.

New for 2012! The CIT Adventure program is designed for our most mature campers with the aim of preparing them to be dynamic staff and to provide the same solid foundation of leadership development that we already offer in our Sr. Adventure and CIT programs in a new hybrid for those that would like to try something new. Guided by their CIT Trainers, participants develop skills through a series of workshops geared to teach the art of counselling, skill instruction, program planning and delivery and trip leadership. CITs will complete an 8-10 day canoe trip/hike to practice their trip leadership skills. Cabin placements throughout the session provide opportunity for practical learning with regular feedback from our counselling team. This group will also be going on a short exchange to another YMCA camp to gain more perspective and build their skills.
