Who can use the Employment Service?

Everyone can access our resource services, including:

• People with jobs
• Those who are under-employed
• People looking for work
• Students
• Apprentices
• Internationally trained individuals
• Employers

The YMCA can also provide personalized service to help job seekers assess their skills and experience, find work, and start on the path to skills training. 

What is the Employment Service?

The YMCA can help in a number of ways through the Employment Ontario Employment Service program. We provide: 

• Assessment of your skills and experience
• Information about different careers and occupations
• Local labour market, employment and training opportunities
• Information about all Employment Ontario programs and services, including Second Career and Skills Development
• Advice about and referral information to other community services and support.
• Support with developing effective job search strategies including resume, cover letter and interview preparation
• Information about apprenticeships and trade certifications; find out about the many different pathways to apprenticeship that can help you train for a career
• Employment related Workshops, job fairs, and workplace safety information
• Free access to computers, Internet, faxing and photocopying; Wi-Fi  services (at some locations)

Depending on your particular employment needs and career goals, an Employment Counselor will determine whether you need more individualized assistance and support to help you develop your career and set goals, assess your skills and interests, and prepare you for interviews and employment.

You may be eligible for on-the-job training and/or work experience support, and in some cases, additional support to help keep you at work.
