
Korean Community Services provides direct settlement assistance for Korean and English speaking newcomers in need of more practical support.
To be eligible for services, newcomers must be a:
- landed immigrant
- convention refugee
- live-in-caregiver work permit holder
- immigration applicant whose application is approved pending a medical check
To receive service, newcomers must register and present their original PR card or landing paper.
We provide:
- Counseling on a variety of settlement issues including: housing, education, child care, health, taxation, banking, consumer rights and more
- Guidance to individuals and families on domestic issues such as: parenting, marriage, conflict resolution, communication and more
- Information on employment topics including: labour market, bridging programs, job search and workplace culture
- Form-filling assistance for government documents and benefits including applications for: OHIP, SIN, CCTB, UCCB, GST/HST Credit, a driver's license, social assistance, and employment insurance (E.I.)
- Help with renewing a permanent resident card, preparing for a citizenship test and applying for Canadian citizenship
- Help with sponsorship applications
- Community income tax clinic
- Interpretation and translation
- Newcomer youth services
- Adults and seniors computer club
- Free Internet and fax access
