The YMCA of Greater Toronto has developed partnerships with local YMCAs in eight different countries. The purpose of these partnerships is to support community development projects, share resources, tools and technical expertise, and learn about the issues that affect us all.
The YMCA of Greater Toronto’s international partnerships:
YMCA of Kingston, Jamaica (since 1984)
The YMCA of Kingston Jamaica works with school dropouts by providing education and life-skills training that allows the youth to develop self-esteem and see themselves as valuable citizens.
YMCA of Lebanon (since 1984)
The YMCA of Beirut, Lebanon supports a wide range of educational programs with emphasis on training and promoting rehabilitation and development initiatives.
YMCA of Myanmar (since 1991)
The YMCA of Myanmar builds the capacity of communities to meet their own needs through a variety of training programs to help develop employability skills among the poor.
YMCA of Medellín, Colombia (since 1992)
ACJ-YMCA of Medellin is committed to the comprehensive training of children, women and young people through the promotion of health, youth participation and education.
YMCA of Mexico City (since 1998)
The Mexico City YMCA offers a range of programs and services for families, youth and children that highlight Mexican art, dance and heritage.
YMCA of Liberia (since 1999)
The YMCA Liberia offers a variety of programs and services aimed at building institutional capacity, health education, entrepreneurship skills and overall youth leadership development.
YMCA of Senegal (since 2002)
YMCAs in Senegal seek to build the capacity and resilience of youth through integrated youth programs addressing adolescent reproductive health, education and participation.
YMCA of Ghana (since 2006)
The YMCA of Ghana is committed to youth and women empowerment by giving the necessary skills for them to be self-sufficient. Its program scope is focused on the educational campaign against HIV/AIDS.
