Canadian Olympic medal winner Adam van Koeverden donated eight Lenovo computers to the Rexdale Pro Tech Media Centre on November 27, 2008.
Run by the YMCA of Greater Toronto, the Media Centre is the result of a partnership involving Microsoft Canada, The City of Toronto, Humber College, and the Toronto Community Housing Corporation.
The new media arts space provides a safe environment for youth to develop computer literacy skills, learn multi-media and web applications and create digital art and animation.
“The new Lenovo computers are a wonderful gift that will help us reach our goal of combining state-of-the-art technology and cutting age digital arts programming,” says the YMCA’s Melodie Downey who manages the Centre.
Adam also took time out of his busy schedule to meet with the kids to share his Olympic experience and to answer their questions.
