YMCA green roof in full bloom and in need of Volunteers!

The Central YMCA green roof is a beautiful place to relax and unwind. There are cheery blossoms, fresh summer air, and a rooftop view of the surrounding neighbourhood. Though the plants on the green roof were chosen for their hardiness and self-growing nature, there is a little weeding and maintenance required to keep our garden looking its best. For that we need your help!
The YMCA of Greater Toronto has a series of volunteer gardening days coming up, and we need as many volunteers as we can get.
The main activities in the session will be weeding the garden and trimming taller grasses. Dress for the weather (rain or shine). Be sure to wear clothing appropriate for gardening, that you wouldn't mind getting a little soiled. The roof is quite sunny, so bring along a hat, a re-useable water bottle, sunscreen and anything else you feel would be appropriate. The Central YMCA will provide all gardening tools.
This year, we have Tia Varghese, a Masters of Environmental Science student, who will be coordinating the activities on the green roof. She has an interest in sustainability, and we are excited to see what her knowledge and expertise will bring.
