YMCA of Greater Toronto raises $380,000 to help send over 1,300 children to camp at third annual YMCA Charity 5K
More than 1500 community members came together at the 2026 YMCA Charity 5K, raising funds that will help send children to camp next summer
Toronto – September 26, 2026 – This morning, the YMCA of Greater Toronto held its third annual YMCA Charity 5K. The event at Downsview Park brought together families, friends, and community members of all ages and fitness levels for a fun and inclusive run, walk and roll in support of YMCA camps.
This year’s YMCA Charity 5K raised $380,000 and will help send over 1,300 children to YMCA camps next summer.
“We're overwhelmed by the support shown at this year's YMCA Charity 5K,” said Lesley Davidson, President & CEO, YMCA of Greater Toronto. “It's inspiring to see our community come together in support of YMCA camps and the life-changing experiences they provide. Every child deserves the opportunity to explore, grow, build confidence, and make friends, and the generosity shown today will ensure hundreds of children, who otherwise would not have been able to, access summer camp next year.”
Every summer, the YMCA of Greater Toronto delivers camp programs at more than 40 locations across the GTA. The YMCA’s diverse offerings, including outdoor adventure, performing arts, cooking, science, and movie making, ensures there’s something to bring out the best in every child. YMCA camps offer children and youth the opportunity to explore the outdoors, learn and develop new skills such as canoeing, archery, and movie script writing, make friends, and ignite their potential.
The YMCA Charity 5K was made possible thanks to the generous support of presenting sponsor, Saporito Foods, and the dedication of more than 100 onsite volunteers. Fundraising continues until October 31, and those interested in supporting the charity can make a donation at ymcagta.org/5k.
