The YMCA of Greater Toronto is currently conducting telefundraising (or telemarketing) to raise awareness and secure donations for our financial assistance program, which helps people join our programs when they can’t afford the full fees. We greatly appreciate the opportunity to speak with our donors and members about the impact their gifts will make.

Why is the Y telefundraising?

Telefundraising is a traditional yet effective way for the Y to raise essential revenue for our financial assistance program, which subsidizes access to our programs for those who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford them.

The Y currently works with Fundraising Direct, an agency that carries out our telefundraising activities. With the help of their well-trained and YMCA-knowledgeable call agents, we can enrich relationships with our existing generous donors and members, raise awareness of our programs, and share how donations can help community members access vital programs, including swim lessons, sports leagues, camps, and more.

The telefundraising campaign is designed to acquire monthly donors. There are other options available for those wanting to make a one-time gift.

Why should I join your monthly program?

Your donation helps people join our programs when they can't afford the full fees. By becoming a monthly donor, you'll be:

  • Providing sustained, long-term help to people who rely on the Y
    The need doesn’t stop after one swim lesson or a week at camp. People facing financial hardship often need ongoing support to help them overcome barriers. Your monthly gift ensures kids can continue learning, youth can keep building skills, and seniors can stay active all year long.

    Monthly gifts allow us to plan ahead and say “yes” to more people in need.

Telefundraisers call between the hours of 10 am–9 pm, Monday to Friday, and Saturday from 10 am–5:30 pm.

Is my monthly donation processed securely?

We take the security of your personal details very seriously and have measures in place to protect them. 

Our telefundraising agents follow PCI-compliant procedures to ensure your information remains confidential and safe.

I do not want to give my information over the phone. How else can I become a monthly donor?
