Vote Pop Up Events:

Voter Pop-Up Events are provincial and municipal voting awareness campaigns targeted towards encouraging youth to participate in the democratic process by teaching them about the democratic system. Mock voting stations were set up at a number of YMCA locations across the GTA in advance of the municipal election on Oct 22 2018. Another round of Vote Pop Up events will also be held in May and June in advance of the provincial election on June 7 2018. Resources from Samara Centre for Democracy were provided and these stations provided a hands-on opportunity for community members to practice voting before the municipal and provincial elections.

YGTA Teen Council:

The YMCA GTA Teen Council was started as a form of outreach to youth to encourage them on a path to becoming influential citizens within their own communities.  Every year, a group of youth are chosen to become members of the YMCA GTA Teen Council because of the involvement and leadership they have shown within their own communities. Their responsibilities are to create a local GTA-wide and an international initiative to target Youth Social Issues.
